Perfumes existed for more than thousands of years in this world. The oldest form of perfume was in the form of incense burning and aromatic scents which were used in the religious events.   • During the year 1770, Jean Jacques Perret, a professional barber, recommended the use of cologne on the face after shaving in order to moisturize and enhance the skin.

  • Florida water was developed by the Americans in the year 1856 which had a citrusy fragrance.

  • During the year 1889, Guerlain developed a new fragrance which was highly concentrated. A small amount of this perfume, named Jicky, was enough to create pleasant smelling fragrance.
  • Max Factor and Elizabeth Arden perfumeries were established in the years 1900 and 1910 respectively.
  • During 20th century, the perfumes became popular among the society and the fragrances were developed using synthetic materials in order to produce exotic fragrances.
