How To Make Portuguese Coffee
Coffee very much is like a religion in Portugal, with the Portugese even having their own spelling for the classically Italian drink ‘expresso’ (espresso in Italian). Unlike other cultures, coffee drinking is often enjoyed whilst out and about rather than in the comfort of your own home.
Powering the revolution during 1974, it is often thought that the Portuguese love of strong coffee originated from this period due to the use of robusta coffee beans. Drunk regularly in cafes, restaurants and bars, the Portuguese enjoy the beverage in relaxed settings.
Imported from Brazil, Portugal’s love of coffee goes way beyond their coffee beans. With technicians through out the country adapting and creating coffee stations and machinery set to Portugal’s desired temperature and water pressure.
This high quality machinery is unique to Portugal, producing the countries unique coffee. Available in a variety of coffee styles, however mostly drunk in espresso form (spelt expresso in Portugal) due to the strength and robust taste. Typically served in larger cups, the Portuguese espresso (Portuguese 30ml vs Italian 20ml) offers a caffeine hit to get you buzzing!
Due to these qualities that the Portugese look for in their coffees, here at Hipster Coffee we recommend our Gourmet Coffee which has been created from high grade arabica and robusta coffee beans.
